Chapter 5: Ash
Ashley could smell the sweetness resonating from this place. His senses heightened. Opening the door he reached Nirvana. Cake, tarte, mille-fleur, croissant his mouth salivated.
Emi smiled, “Stay here I’ll be right back.”
Mistakes were made, alone in a room surrounded by such delicacies. Yet nothing stood out more than that cake. Its tall elegant figure coupled by its curvature created such an alluring sight. Its white icing begging to be liked off by him. Human instinct dictated he should eat it. “The way I see it,” he reasoned. “This human instinct thing has yet to fail me.” As he said this his finger swiped some icing on the side. Bringing it to his lips he squirmed.
As the icing melted between his lips he tasted its sweetness. Such a correct mixture to create this exquisite solution. Unable to restrain himself he pinched a bit of the cake. Popping it in, he held to the edge of the counter as the taste rocked his body. A delicate balance between bitter, sweet, crunchy and soft. Wanting more he dug his hands in the cake. Until Emi walked back out to see him covered in icing. Her mouth dropped. Shocked, appalled, confused all these summed the emotion written across her face.
“This cake is great,” Ash spoke oblivious to his misstep. He continued eating plunging his hand in and stuffing his face.
“Stop, Stop,” Emi recovered. She grabbed Ash’s thin wrist pulling her away from the dessert.
Ash looked at her confused. Then as if understanding he said, “Do you want some?”
“No,” Emi screamed. “What am I going to do now?” she rubbed her temple.
Hearing the commotion Mike and Aubrey came out the shop. It didn’t take them long to figure out what had just transpired. Instantly they intervened Mike worked on calming Emi and Aubrey called “security.”
“Please stay where you are dear,” Aubrey told Ash. “Also please tell us your name.”
“Ash,” he licked her fingers saddened she couldn’t eat anymore of the cake.
Aubrey shook her head, “No your full name.”
He looked at her, “Ashley Exodia.” A dead silence followed.
“Yup and I’m Shenglong,” Mike said causing a chuckle around the room.
“Nice to meet you Sir. Shenlong,” Ash extended his sticky fingers. This annoyed Mike who ignored her. For a reason or another these humans seemed wary of her.
“Emria, these humans are acting weird. Help please.”
“I’ll be right there Milord.”
A second later Taylor walked through the door. Instantly she moved towards Ash. Pulling out a napkin she cleaned his face. “I leave you alone and here you are getting your face covered with cake.”
“I apologize for anything that may have happened,” Taylor spoke. Her gentle voice confused the humans. Her hand landed on his shoulder as she started gripping it hard. Feeling pain emanate from his shoulder Ash apologized himself. Yet the pain didn’t cease.
“Milord, didn’t I tell you to use silverware while you eat.”
She was angry. He swallowed, if mishandled he may die. With his infinite wisdom he told her, “Yitfret told me that’s how humans eat during the first meeting.” Her death grip evaporated. The look on her face spoke volume. Ash castling Freddy with that simple move. The king had to be saved at all cost he reasoned.
“Excuse me Ms. President, is she a friend of yours?” Emi inquired.
Taylor nodded, “I’m sorry to have not introduced you. Please meet Ashley Exodia. Heir to Exodia corp.”
Tuning out Taylor’s voice for a moment Ashley stared at a tray of mille fleur. It looked so appetizing. Yet he kept his hands to himself not wanting to attract Taylor’s ire. He felt Emi’s soft hands clasp his. Turning around Emi’s large brown eyes stared intently at him.
“Ms. Exodia, I apologize for my mistake,” she implored.
Ashley was confused. This human maybe she had trouble dealing with her emotion. It must be a rare malaise. Yet the shop owners did the same thing they both apologized furiously.
“Why are you doing this,” he asked them.
“Because we offended you,” Mike responded.
“Emria, will this cause any trouble.”
“No Milord simply say, “it’s no big deal.’”
Ashley repeated the same words. As if like a curse was lifted the human’s emotional malaise was lifted.
“Since Ashley ate the cake. Audrey would you mind baking another one. You can have it prepared by tomorrow?”
Aubrey nodded, she even offered a free dessert to Ashley. Who happily took a tray of mille fleur. Taylor took Emily aside while he watched Mike pack his tray of goodness. Done he followed Emi outside.
Entering the golf Taylor said, “Emi will take you to the manor. I have some business to attend. We’ll meet up later.”
Hearing the vemon in her voice. Ashley didn’t regret throwing Freddy under the bus. Things would have gotten extremely interesting. His next step, making sure Taylor doesn’t catch his ruse. To start he needed for Freddy to take one of the team.
“Milord do you know what Emria is talking about?”
“Did Earth rearrange your brain? Since when did you start questioning me Ytfret?”
“I’ve always questioned you Milord.”
“… Oh well just take this beating for me.”
Ashley cut the link not long after her felt Taylor’s magic permeating the island.
“Wow this fog came out of nowhere,” Emi commented.
Ashley nodded, “Emria don’t overdo it.”
“No worries Milord, I’m only using 25% of my powers.”
He wasn’t talking about her magic. He was concerned about Freddy’s wellbeing.
